The Hungarian economy – Geopolitical Changes and their Effect on the Business Climate

A morning seminar and an accompanying free breakfast organised jointly by Raiffeisen Bank and the BCCH

Date: 5 November, 2025 – 9:30
Venue: Raiffeisen Bank Offices, 1133 Budapest, Váci út 116-118. (Agora irodaház, Tower 2)

Guest Speaker: Zoltán Török, Head of Research at Raiffeisen Bank

Hungary faces a tight macroeconomic environment as US tariffs bite into exports, European demand keeps underperforming and the country’s energy dependence on Russia poses increasing risks. Simultaneously, the Hungarian economy has not been able to re-start growth and inflationary pressures are only partially and temporarily hidden behind government price interventions. With the April 2026 elections approaching, fiscal pressures mount and policy decisions gain added significance. Still HUF has regained some strength as the National Bank of Hungary keeps interest rate high. What is the real economy, inflation and fiscal outlook for 2026 and beyond? What implications do they have on HUF and on the monetary policy?
