International law firm Bird & Bird welcomes Csongor Tompa as head of the Banking & Finance and Capital Markets practices in Budapest.
Bird & Bird’s Budapest office has seen continued growth and strengthening in recent years, and with a legal team of more than 40 professionals, now it is one of the largest law firms in Hungary. Csongor’s joining perfectly fits into this rolling trend. Csongor joins the firm with over 15 years’ experience, providing advice to local and international clients in all areas of banking and finance, including corporate finance, project finance, real estate finance, and capital markets. His practice also includes a wide range of financial market regulatory work, advising on mergers and demergers, and acquisitions and disposals of corporates and financial institutions. Before joining Bird & Bird, Csongor held a senior position at another leading international law firm, and his secondments to several financial institutions during his career, including the London branch of UniCredit Bank, also has given him second to none, first-hand knowledge of the broader finance sector. On a personal BCCH note, Csongor is also a long-time contributor and friend to the Chamber, having helped with numerous BCCH events in the past, especially via regular appearances conducting our AGMs.
When asked about Csongor’s hire and what it will mean to Bird & Bird and its clients, Co-Head of Country, and Head of the Corporate/M&A practice, Pál Szabó, said: “We are happy to welcome Csongor, who is a strong addition to the Budapest team, and his joining will further strengthen Bird & Bird’s leading position in Banking & Finance and Capital Markets in Hungary and the CEE region. He is a sought-after lawyer for such important sectors and there is no doubt with Csongor at the helm, the Budapest team will be well led and taken to a new level, and it will continue to deliver first-class service for clients.”
