The British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary (BCCH) and the British Embassy Budapest cordially invite HR, Diversity, and Inclusion professionals to a special joint briefing session\u00a0<\/span>on 20 November 2024<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to mark International Equal Pay Day. The event will feature an interactive briefing on the upcoming EU Directive requiring businesses operating in Hungary to publish their gender pay gap data. The briefing will be led by the Gender Equality Adviser of Amnesty International Hungary.<\/div>\n

15th November marks Equal Pay Day, a significant date that highlights the point from which women effectively work for free until the end of the year, due to the gender pay gap. Hungary has one of the largest gender pay gaps in the European Union, emphasising the urgent need for transparency and action to address this issue.<\/p>\n

Since 2020, Amnesty International Hungary has been advocating for gender pay transparency and working to support both employees and employers in Hungary in advancing gender equality. According to the European Union Directive adopted in 2023, Member States are required to implement gender pay transparency by June 2026. Initially, this will apply to larger employers with at least 250 employees, followed by companies with a minimum of 100 employees. This transition will require significant preparation and action from businesses.<\/p>\n

Amnesty International Hungary has developed online and offline training sessions, workshops, and recommendations to guide companies in Hungary on how to meet these new requirements and promote gender equality in the workplace.<\/p>\n

In honour of Equal Pay Day, Fanni Csernus, PhD, Amnesty Hungary’s Gender Equality Adviser, will present on the complex issue of the gender pay gap and introduce the organisation\u2019s latest policy paper, designed to assist in the effective implementation of the EU Directive. This will be followed by a workshop exploring how these strategies can be applied in corporate settings and discussing actionable steps to promote equality. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their experiences, questions, and best practices.<\/p>\n
